On March 11th 1983, Energía Solar ESWindows started its operations as an artisanal solar heater business. Since 1988, the Company became involved in the production, commercialization and installation of aluminum and glass windows and facades for residential projects.
The great costumer acceptance of the company’s products leads the business towards an important sales growth, thus improving its technology and investing in key equipment such as the first automated glass-cutting machine in the city.
It was due to this same growth, along with the need to provide the highest quality windows and façades what lead to the creation of Tecnoglass. On April 18th 1994 Tecnoglass was created as the best alternative for the production of silk-screened, tempered, laminated, insulating, curved and digital printed glass.
During mid-1990’s the business started its first export trades to Panama and the US. In 2002 Energía Solar ESWindows introduced hurricane resistant windows and doors to the market, especially tailored to comply with the requirements of Miami Dade County.
Alutions by Tecnoglass, an aluminum extrusion plant, was created in 2007, completing the production cycle of the company: aluminum profiles, crystals and windows; providing lower production times and even more competitive prices. In 2013, Tecnoglass Inc. became the first Colombian firm to enter one of the most prestigious stock markets: Nasdaq, under TGLS and three year later started trading in the Colombian Stock Exchange – Bolsa de Valores de Colombia “BVC” as TGLSC.
In 2016 the Tecnoglass group inaugurated the first Soft Coat plant in Colombia. With this innovation the business is able to provide architectural systems with low – e glass, a product that offers excellent thermal insulation, and is designed to improve the energy efficiency of buildings. This same year, the Tecnoglass group acquired E.S. Windows, LLC., strengthening its presence in the U.S. and enhancing its vertical integration.
In 2017, Energía Solar ESWindows enters the European market with new subsidiary in Italy. With more tan 30 years of experience, today, ESWindows is a leading company in the manufacturing industry of high-specification architectural glass and windows for the residential and commercial construction market.

The Tecnoglass ES Foundation was created on July 18th, 2005 due to Tecnoglass and Energia Solar ESWindows shareholders’ interest in collaborating with the management of social development projects and programs whose objective is to help improve the quality of life of employees, their families, and the most vulnerable members of their communities. This proposal intends to look after some of the fundamental needs of our employees and the community, especially children. Giving them access to education, proper housing and more opportunities.
